The Greater Waco Chamber recently honored four trailblazing local companies at its Business Innovator of the Year Award – all friends of McLennan SBDC! Serial inventor and entrepreneur, John Fitch, Owner of Birkeland Current, won the award as "2015 Innovator of the Year," in partnership with Pruf LED.

Note: Hear John Fitch speak at the Technology Business Briefing on February 18th.

Birkeland Current was honored for two technologies: a Wireless Energy Monitoring and Control System, jointly developed with partner, Pruf Energy Solutions; and a Remote Structural Monitoring System with partner firm Langerman Foster Engineering.

The other nominated companies were:

Chariot Innovations

Dr. Brian Garner's company, Chariot Innovations, has developed a mechanical apparatus used for hippo-therapy (therapy using the movement of a horse) that accurately reproduces the complex, three-dimensional movement patterns of a horse.  The custom mechanical horse helps those with physical and mental impairments get the same benefit from hippo-therapy without having to actually get onto a horse.
