Beau Sutton and Heather Collins came to the McLennan SBDC in November 2013 with the dream of starting their own hair salon with a fashion twist. Both Heather and Beau had many years of salon industry experience when they decided it was time to start their own business in the Killeen/Harker Heights area. Beau and Heather funded their business with the help of micro-lender Accion.
Jason Ehler worked with Beau on an ongoing basis with a successful business start in October of 2014. In only a few short months, Beau and Heather have turned profits and staffed 7 employees. Beau had the following to say about working with the McLennan SBDC:
I was afraid and nervous to start a business. I really did not know the steps and what to do, so I sought assistance from the Small Business Development Center. After working with the SBDC, I went from being nervous to confident. After working with Jason, it was like a domino effect; everything fell into place.
Beau and Jason are currently working on expanding the Scissor Sister's concept into the Austin market area. Beau wants to eventually franchise his operation. Jason looks forward to helping their business grow.
