Client Success: Arches

Heinz and Lynn Reichl came to the MCC SBDC in March of 2012 seeking assistance in opening their own store to continue Heinz’s’ work as a Pedorthist. Heinz came to the US from Germany and had spent over 18 years in the industry when the hospital he worked at in Temple announced that they were eliminating the Pedorthist services from their facility in favor of mail order from out of state. A Pedorthist is a professional who fills the prescriptions for the Podiatrist or foot doctor. Heinz and his wife, Lynn, saw an opportunity to continue to provide this service to the local community and the surrounding area. Advisor Steve Surguy assisted the clients with their business plan and worked with a local lender to secure an $80k SBA 7(a) loan. Lynn left her job as an advertising executive for a local paper to manage the office full time while Heinz fills the role as licensed Pedorthist. Their shop can fill all prescriptions for Podiatrists in the area and carries a full line of specialty shoes for diabetic patients.

In talking with Heinz and Lynn Reichl, they had this to say: We opened Arches, Your support team for healthy feet in August of 2012. We could not have done it without the guidance of the SBDC. The SBDC knew what banks would be looking for.   We walked out of our first appointment with a clear understanding of the first steps we needed to take, armed with the tools to move forward, and it cost us nothing. Most of all, we walked out with the confidence of a clear path and the motivation to get going.   When we meet someone who mentions starting a business, we rave about the SBDC as an invaluable resource!

Advisor Surguy continues to work with Heinz and Lynn to expand their business and build on the foundation of this solid business.
